Stories/Reports From European Riders Rally 2010

The Club's new No-Mar tire changer came in very handy this weekend at Burkesville - We had it there for a tech session/seminar on changing tires, but did 2 unscheduled "rescues". 1ST - one couple riding two up from Crossville got a flat on the way to the rally on Friday, plugged it to get to the Rally, and called Bloodworth M/C to purchase a new tire. Virginia Bloodworth brought it up to the Rally on Saturday as she was already coming with a truck full of bratwurst for the Saturday lunch they sponsor. We helped the rider mount and balance the tire on Saturday. A 2nd rider discovered on Saturday afternoon he was down to cords on the back tire of his GS. We gave him a tire we were using for the demo at the seminar (just happened to be an appropriate size) and mounted it to his wheel to get him home. Both riders were extremely grateful for the help. In addition we helped BMWMCON members mount and balance 4 other tires they had brought with them. So the tire changer worked out very well for all concerned - the Club provided a great convenience to rally attendees in need, Bloodworth made a sale, our Club and the Rally got great reviews, and motorcycle travelers in need got some help. That is what I call a win/win.

The rally was a winner in my book. From the tech sessions (thanks Ron Brandt, Steve Page, Bob Maier, Jim Moore, Steve Lissner), to the meals, to the rides it was a wonderful weekend. Lots of riders said they would be back next year with friends.

Rally Afterglow
I am really pleased that the rally came off without any serious hitches. I'm very sorry we had a casualty on one of the riding excursions on Saturday but the other accompanying riders handled it well and from all reports Michael is also doing well. We received a lot of compliments on the rally from our out of state guests and said they would return because of our hospitality and a enjoyable experience. This in spite of the rain.
I think the rally was a success because of the support of the board and many members of the club who selflessly gave their time and dedicated their efforts to the rally. They deserve everyone's appreciation. I appreciate everyone's support and the city's commitment to providing volunteers and a wonderful experience. The steak dinner was better than I expected and in spite of a torrential downpour, was also very well executed. Polly, your efforts and your dedication to this club are greatly appreciated and I continue to be amazed by your stamina. Also huge thanks to Andy and Nancy for their tireless commitment and leadership. Ron Brant and Steve Page, this rally would not have been as enjoyable and successful without your involvement and teaching skills. Jack Jones kept the drinks flowing and did a terrific job as he has done the past few years. Bette Stewart did a great job of getting Vendors. We can't leave out Virginia and David Bloodworth, for the great lunch on Saturday as well as their support for this club. Finally, many thanks to my wife Anne for her support and help for the last four months. You all made this event a great success! I know there are countless other volunteers and members who contributed time, ideas and invaluable support, to whom I would like to also express my deepest thanks. This rally was successful because of all of you and you should be justifiably proud. Thank you. :P

This is Jim Stocking, President of the Indy BMW Club. I wasn't sure who to write to but as our secretary handles most of the paper work, I figured you were the guy!. First off a big thanks to your club for another great event! Our little club loves your rally and I like to think that our numbers in attendance show it. I wanted to provide you with a accurate head count. I think that I was told after the award ceremony that we had 13 by your count. We actually had 19 members in good standing at the event. The award with most club members that we won will be displayed at our local shop here in Indy.
Thanks again and we will see you all next year!
Cheers

I attended the tire changing seminar at this year's European Rider's Rally in Burkesville. You guys did a fantastic job! I brought the idea back to a few of my friends, and we are interested in a joint purchase. I am wondering if you have any information in an easily "forwardable" format on the log books, worklist printouts (step-by-step guide), info on the unit and any other information you think would be helpful.

This year's rally was my third, and I intend to continue this tradition

Requested information emailed. Glad you enjoyed the seminar/tech session. Let me know if you need any "coaching " on the use of the No-Mar changer.

I sent my photos on to Steve (our most excellent webmaster) and he has already integrated them into the slideshow on the home page of our site. In addition, he has added them in a little larger size to the rally photo page. Here is the address for those photos.

I hope you find a photo or 2 that will help bring back good memories of the weekend.

Thanks Steve for keeping the website looking great. And thanks Bob for a great job as rally chair this year. And many thanks to all the volunteers and the awesome folks from Burkesville. It was a great weekend.
